Colmar Manor Bible Institute (CMBI)

The Colmar Manor Bible Institute (CMBI) is designed to provide biblical training for men and women in all walks of life. CMBI desires to glorify God by equipping men and women to better know God personally and serve Him more effectively through the study of His Word. People today are busier than ever so the courses taught at CMBI only last seven weeks and are not demanding concerning the homework to be done weekly.

Schedule:

Our schedule consists of 3 seven week sessions a year. A certificate will be awarded after successfully completing all 15 courses. If the courses are taken in succession, the certificate will take 5 years.

$10.00 per course/student purchases books separately (see below)

It is the student's responsibility to order the books specified for each course. The books should be obtained PRIOR to the first day of class. Some Book Store suggestions are:

CMBI Courses

The Great Doctrines of the Bible I (Fall Session 2010) 

This class will study seven great doctrines of the Bible.  The seven doctrines to be studied are the inspiration and authority of the Bible, the Godhead, the total depravity of man, salvation, eternal security, the person and work of Jesus Christ, and the person and work of the Holy Spirit.  TEXT:  Basic Theology by Charles Ryrie 

The Great Doctrines of the Bible II (Winter Session 2011) 

This class will study many great doctrines of the Bible.  The doctrines to be studied are the two aspects of the nature of the believer, ecclesiastical separation, the ordinances, the church, spiritual gifts, the rapture and second coming, the eternal state, the personality of Satan, and angels.  TEXT:  Basic Theology by Charles Ryrie.

Prayer and the Christian Life (Spring Session 2011) 

The student will be instructed about the importance of prayer in his/her Christian life.  Eleven biblical texts emphasizing prayer from both the Old and New Testaments will be the focal point. 

Discovering God's Will for Your Life (Fall Session 2011) 

What is God's Will for your life?  How do you discern what He wants you to do?  These questions will be fully addressed from a biblical worldview.  The class is designed to help each student understand God's ways of revealing His will.  TEXT:  Experiencing God:  Knowing And Doing the Will of God by Henry & Richard Blackaby.

Principles of Biblical Interpretation (Winter Session 2012) 

Bible students must learn how to study the Bible.  This class is designed to show students the importance of using F.I.R.E. (familiarity, interpretation, relationship, and employment) in their Bible study.  The pupil will also learn how to develop Bible lessons by creating exegetical, theological, and homiletical points.  The seven churches in Revelation 2 and 3 will be the primary texts studied. 

The Gospel of John (Spring Session 2012) 

The deity of Jesus will be examined through the eyes of John.  The student will be instructed concerning Jesus’ life, death, and resurrection as presented in this twenty-one chaptered book.  TEXT:  The Bible Exposition Commentary, Vol. 1 by Wiersbe. 

The Book of Acts (Fall Session 2012) 

Dr. Luke’s history of the early church will be studied.  This will include the birth of the church, the ministry of God’s Holy Spirit, and the missionary travels of Paul.  TEXT:  The Bible Exposition Commentary, Vol. 1 by Wiersbe. 

The Perfections of God I (Winter Session 2013) 

Who is God?  What does He expect from us?  These questions will be answered by studying God’s communicable attributes/perfections.  These are the attributes that belong to God that He expects His children to imitate.  The seven attributes to be studied are holiness, goodness, grace, mercy, longsuffering, truth, and faithfulness. 

The Perfections of God II (Spring Session 2013) 

Who is God?  What does He expect from us?  These questions will be answered by studying God’s communicable attributes/perfections.  These are the attributes that belong to God that He expects His children to imitate.  The seven attributes to be studied are love, righteousness, perfection, blessedness, wisdom, jealousy, and glory. 

Galatians (Fall Session 2013) 

This class will consist of a verse-by-verse study of this book that defends salvation by faith alone.  The student will learn about their salvation in Christ as well as living a Christian life based upon that relationship.  TEXT:  The Bible Exposition Commentary, Vol. 2 by Wiersbe. 

First and Second Thessalonians (Winter Session 2014) 

These books have much to say about eschatology (the study of the last days).  Emphasis will be placed upon the rapture, the Antichrist, the Tribulation, and the Second Coming of Jesus.  TEXT:  The Bible Exposition Commentary, Vol. 2 by Wiersbe. 

James (Spring Session 2014) 

Proverbs is a book about wisdom in the Old Testament.  James is the New Testament equivalent.  This book is both profound and practical in nature. 

First and Second Peter (Fall Session 2014) 

Peter was an eyewitness to the life of Jesus.  He witnessed His sufferings firsthand.  First Peter addresses suffering and the Christian life.  Second Peter confronts the issue of false teachers in the church. 

Eschatology/Revelation I (Winter Session 2015) 

This class will focus upon the first eleven chapters of the Book of Revelation.  Special attention will be placed upon the vision of the resurrected and glorified Jesus, the seven churches of Asia Minor, the rapture, and the first half of the Tribulation. 

Eschatology/Revelation II (Spring Session 2015)

This class will focus upon Revelation chapters twelve through twenty-two.  The emphasis will center upon the work of Satan during the Tribulation, the work of the Antichrist, the destruction of Babylon, the Second Coming of Jesus Christ, the Millennial Kingdom, and the New Jerusalem.
