Our Pastors

Pastor Burge has lived in Prince George's County almost his entire life. Although he was born in Pottsville, Pennsylvania, he grew up in an apartment in Queenstown, MD. His father is a retired policeman with the K-9 division of the Metropolitan police. His Mom has always been a stay-at-home mom. He moved to Riverdale in 1963, attended Riverdale Elementary, William Wirt Junior High, and graduated from Parkdale Senior High.

Pastor Burge accepted Christ at the age of 16. He immediately got involved in Colmar Manor Bible Church. After studying God's Word and growing in Him, he began to teach Sunday School. He next starting serving in various capacities: weight-lifting ministry, high-school youth group, and college-and-career ministry. After working for C&P Phone company for many years, he realized that God was calling Him to full-time ministry.

Pastor Burge was ordained at Colmar Manor Bible Church on November 20th, 1988. He then began to serve as Assistant to the Pastor and then Associate Pastor. He became the Senior Pastor of Colmar Manor Bible Church in 1991.

Pastor Burge graduated from the Washington Bible College on May 20, 1995 with a Bachelor of Arts, Summa Cum Laude. He is a member of Delta Epsilon Chi and also received the highest score on the AABC Bible Exam Award. He graduated from Capital Bible Seminary on May 23, 1998 with his Master of Arts, Magna Cum Laude. He received his Master of Divinity from Capital Bible Seminary on May 18, 2002, Summa Cum Laude. During that time he was awarded the Hanshew Preaching Award. Pastor Burge became Doctor Burge on May 13, 2006 when he was awarded his Doctorate of Ministry from Dallas Theological Seminary. He completed his Dissertation entitled, "Developments and Evaluation of a Sermon Preparation and Delivery Class for Laymen."

Pastor Burge married Kimberly Hall on May 28, 1983. Today, they have three adult sons (Joshua, Daniel, and Kenny, Jr.), all of whom actively serve at CMBC.

Besides his ministries at CMBC, Pastor Burge enjoys studying, writing, and teaching on homiletics. He currently has three published articles on preaching. (What's the Point? Moving from Exegetical to Homiletical in Preaching magazine Jan/Feb. 2010 and Preparing Sermons That Deliver and Delivering Sermons That Preach on preaching.com). Pastor and his family love serving the people of Colmar Manor Bible Church and the surrounding community. Pastor has a burden to disciple those who are willing to learn more about His Savior. He welcomes all who would like to come and visit and take part in our ministry.
