Spring Session:
January - April
Melinda listens to Ariel read. Kenny works with Stephen and Raquel. First and Justin work with some flashcards! Bryan and Fernando finish up some math homework. Josh and Daniel tutor Kelvon, Irvin and Andrew. Dejanee has been a big help tutoring in Algebra! Yuck! The children work with a tutor for 45 minutes once a week. They are tutored in math, reading or get help with their homework. We have a lot of English speaking Latino children. We even have a couple of young students who are just learning English - go, Dan! Amber works with Stephen and Raquel. Little Andrew is learning English as he attends our public school system - tutoring helps reinforce what he's learning!

About our
Ministry
Tutoring is a ministry of CMBC
for the residents of Colmar
Manor. We meet once a week and strive to help any-age-student
with their academic studies. We strive to demonstrate the love of
Christ to our students while also giving them a "service" that would help
them to succeed in school. We help them with their current homework
assignments and seek to provide remedial help in problem areas. We
have students that need help in Algebra, reading, reading comprehension and
math skills. We seek to help each student as an individual catering
the needs of each child. We also work closely with the parent/guardian
to get needed feedback and assistance on which areas the student should be
focusing on.
The goals of our
tutoring are as follows:
1)To show Christ's love to our
students through our kindness and willingness while helping them accomplish
a task that is difficult for them.
2) As we develop ongoing
relationships, we hope that our students will see Christ's love in us and we
will have opportunities to lead them to Christ or to help them in their walk
with Him.
3) To provide encouragement and motivation to be
successful in school and hopefully succeed in higher education or a
vocational lifestyle.
